Saudi Visa Overview

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a popular travel destination that attracts millions of visitors every year for tourism, pilgrimage, business, employment, education, and other purposes.

To travel to Saudi Arabia, GCC nationals can enter visa-free, while visitors from other countries should apply for a Saudi visa – an official document that allows holders to travel to Saudi Arabia and stay in the Kingdom for a specified period of time. Depending on the purpose of travel to Saudi Arabia, several types of Saudi visas are available for both short and long-term stays.

Saudi Tourist visa

The Saudi tourist visa is available to foreign nationals wishing to travel to Saudi Arabia for tourism purposes. The Saudi tourist visa includes travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah pilgrimage, except during Hajj season or for long-term activities, such as work or study in Saudi Arabia.

Depending on nationality and residency status, foreign nationals and qualified GCC residents should apply for the Saudi tourist visa in one of the following 2 ways:

  • Saudi e-Visa: Citizens from 68 countries and GCC residents are eligible to apply online for a single-entry visa valid for 3 months, permitting a 30-days stay, or a multiple-entry visa valid for 1 year, allowing a 90-days stay.
  • Saudi Consulate visa: Foreign nationals not eligible to travel visa-free, nor apply online for a Saudi e-Visa, nor obtain a visa-on- arrival, must apply for a Saudi “sticker” visa at their nearest Saudi embassy or representation office abroad. Saudi sticker visas are granted as single-entry for 30 days, or multiple entry for 90 days.

Who is eligible to apply for a Saudi e-visa?

GCC citizens do not require a visa to Saudi Arabia and need only present their passport or national ID at a Saudi point of entry. Citizens of 68 countries can apply online for a Saudi e-Visa, whereas GCC residents can apply online for the Saudi e-Visa, provided their residency visa has been valid for at least 3 months and they hold an eligible occupation. Foreign nationals not eligible to travel visa-free to Saudi Arabia, nor eligible to obtain a visa-on-arrival at a Saudi port of entry, nor apply online for a Saudi e-Visa, must apply for a Saudi visa at their nearest Saudi embassy or representation office abroad.
